Maurizio Marchese is associate professor of Computer Science at the University of Trento in the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science (DISI). He has worked in the field of web engineering and service-oriented architectures for over ten years. He is author of over 100 publications, has participated to a number of EU projects both as coordinator (e.g. Asia-Link EAST-WEB on “Semantic Web Application”, “Erasmus Mundus European Master in Informatics”, “Challenging and EXTending Erasmus+ Mobility coNnecting and blenDing sEctors and Disciplines” among others) and Partner (e.g. OpenKnowledge (FP6-027253); FET-OPEN LiquidPub, CIVIS project exploring the potential of social networks and communities to significantly reduce energy use and carbon emissions and ACANTO, an EU project developing a Cyber physical social network of older adults using robot friends.)
He has been Director of DISI, Director of Education in the European Institute of Technology EIT Digital initiative for the Trento node; and he is currently Vice Rector for International Relationships.
His main research interest are in social informatics: how information systems can realize social goals, apply social concepts, support innovation in education and become sources of information relevant for social sciences and for analysis of social phenomena.
